EXMOOR -
Owner Vehicle Self Drive Trips
|
| |
| A
very special 4 x 4 Off-Road Day with us! |
| Inspired
by the success of the Clinton Devon Trips, we have
ventured into new territory. Land Rover Experience
West Country have set aside 3 dates for 2008 in
conjunction with The Combe Sydenham Estates in
Exmoor National Park, to create an exclusive,
special, off-roading day in Somerset. |
| |
| Format: |
| |
|
| 1000 |
Meet at the Public Car Park at the North end of Dunster. This car park contains Tourist Information, Public Conveniences and is adjacent to shops. There are plenty of coffee shops in the town. We shall carry out a short briefing/introductions and LEAVE the Car Park at 10.15am. Anyone booking who thinks they might be late will be issued with The Convoy Leaders mobile number so they can locate the group – subject to mobile phone
reception! Please understand that a punctual start is really necessary to fit in the whole days activities as planned. |
|
|
| 1015 |
Leave the rendezvous and take a short drive to Avill Ball and Avill Way – a steep challenging drive that sets the tone for the day. This section of the trip has been planned to take in some stunning scenery over the Bristol Channel to Wales! From here we move on by road to Luxborough where your picnic lunch may be taken in the grounds/in the hall (subject to weather) of the Village Hall with all facilities…. should be around noon. (Lunch can be arranged if
required) If you have friends without 4x4 vehicles, arrangements can be made to rendezvous at this location. |
|
|
| 1300 |
Leave the lunch-stop for exclusive driving adjacent to the West Somerset Mineral Railway route and surrounding forestry leading to a romantic and totally private waterfall where we can pause for a cup of tea if you have any left in your hampers!! This area is bursting with wildlife and rare flora and although not as challenging a drive as the first morning session, you will have to stay alert! |
|
|
| 1500 |
We drive onto The Combe Sydenham Country Park and if still ‘on time’ we will negotiate some terrain taking us adjacent to the ‘Plague Village’ and around some stunning lakes. After this it is time to disembark, walk through the gardens to the original restored Mill and back for a cream tea. You should be able to depart for home at around 1600. |
